The Council on International Law and Politics is proud to announce the launch of the Smart Law & Business Review.
With this new publication, we will break new ground in several ways because:
-
evolving and unmet regulatory needs require expert analysis and innovative ideas;
-
rapidly evolving technology requires quick turnaround times for submissions;
-
giving voice to researchers beyond the wealthy industrialized nations requires fee-free publication models;
-
outreach to a global readership requires open access publication.

The Council on International Law and Politics, operating as a not-for-profit organization, is uniquely suited to meet these challenges.
-
The Smart Law & Business Review will operate under the expert guidance of Prof. Hatem Mabrouk at Tecnológico de Monterrey;
-
An international team of editors and advisors will provide double-blind peer review with the goal of faster turnaround times than those of any other tier-one journal, for profit or not;
-
Authors can add public-facing videos to introduce and summarize their work;
-
QR Codes will be provided for each article, linking to the paper's DOI and PDF or HTML version. Authors and researchers can use them on slides, posters, and social media;
-
Simplified, publicly readable summaries of major articles will be published for professionals, journalists, and advocates outside academia;
-
In certain cases, CILP will offer alter-ego publishing options, allowing whistleblowers and other authors who may face personal repercussions for critical opinions, to publish under a pseudonym for privacy or political safety;
-
GPT plugins for article discovery will enable users to query paper titles, DOIs, and authors, using a custom ChatGPT plugin, improving discoverability and utility in the age of AI-driven research;
-
Articles will be directly forwarded to regulators, DAOs, and NGOs for added impact; with the author's consent, the journal will send relevant articles to institutions such as the SEC, ICC, FATF, ISO, Silicon Valley Arbitration & Mediation Center, or governance forums of major DAOs; notes like "this paper was forwarded to the Monetary Authority of Singapore / the SEC / Maker DAO Governance Forum" will be displayed with the article(s), confirming the outreach effort;
-
Wallet options will be developed to allow crypto-tipping, i.e. to allow readers to send crypto-based tokens of appreciation directly to authors;
-
New ideas, including from our global audience, will be explored on a continuous basis to make the Smart Law & Business Review the to-go forum for the publication of the most innovative and interesting ideas and discussions, and an indispensable source for researchers, policy-makers, lawyers and regulators.
